It's Monday and you all know what that means!

Books I'm Listening to/Reading

The Conquest of Happiness by Burtrand Russell

The Burma Spring: Aung San Suu Kyi and the New Struggle for the Soul of a Nation by Rena Pederson

Article of the Week

The Science of Supercompensation and How It Makes You Fast From the blog of those smart individuals over at TrainerRoad. This is an interesting read into sport science theory and practice. So what is supercompensation? Well read on, but for a quick intro it is - the post training period during which the trained function/parameter has a higher performance capacity than it did prior to the training period. This article looks at cycling, but application to other sports as well.

Words that Caught My Eye

“It Isn’t the Mountain Ahead That Wears You Out; It Is the Grain of Sand in Your Shoe” –  Robert W. Service

Gear that is Cool

The obvious next step in fitness tracking .... Naked. Naked captures your 3D body model so you can visualize your body’s changes on the Naked app. Track your volumetric body fat %, accurate body measurements, and weight. I'm intrigued that is for sure, despite the unfortunate name that makes even me a little hesitant to google it at work.

Stretches of the Week

I know I spend a lot of time on the hips, but honestly, the more variety to keep these things loose and flexible certainly cannot hurt. I stumbled across this good resources this week and thought it is perfect to share. Some video and some good reading here: Use this 8-Step Hip Mobility Routine to Relieve Aches and Pains and Improve Your Performance

Happy Training Everyone!
